Nino and Co-Developer work with England Boxing
Jim Davison, ABA England boxing coach asked Nino and Paul Simmons to join them during a series of training sessions around England . The emphasis was to concentrate on movement, speed and reaction. Jim asked the Footsport ® Team not to focus on boxing specific movements but to take the fighters out of their comfort zone. This meant overloading them with a wide base programme.
Nino said " I designed a programme that I thought would stimulate the fighters physically and mentally. Although many of the drills would not be recognised as boxing specific movements we wanted the fighters to acknowledge that once the movement was stripped down there were many elements that related to the skills the boxers needed.
We took the athletes through a series of angled ladder, linear line and lateral curvilinear work on the active blocks. The fighters and coaches reacted very positively to the session, I felt they had been overloaded in a very positive manner and went away asking a few questions about movement. Also how they could implement the drills and ideas into there weekly programme.
Paul simmons Co-Developer of the FSD programme also attended the sessions. As an ex International fighter himself, and now sports scientist he could see the real value of the work that the fighters were implementing.
He said " it's obviously a privilege to be asked by Jim Davison and to work with the England team. As well as the fighters increasing their range of experiences it also pushes Nino and myself to develop the system further by taking on board quality feed back from coaches and athletes. We both felt that the boxing specific knowledge we have taken on board has really been valuable. The coaches have been absolutely superb and have supported us all the way. The trips to the Boxing Hall at Crystal Palace and The World Class Centre in Manchester will join the list of Footsport ® highlights".
The FootsportDynamics ® team would like to thank all the coaches from England Boxing and wish them all the success for future tournaments.
